Decision Research Corporation (DRC), a software solutions provider, is seeking a Data Warehouse Engineer for its software solutions. Locations of Philadelphia, Los Angeles or Honolulu are preferred but not required. Remote working is possible for a candidate who has proven history of productive remote working with demonstrable references. This position is responsible for assisting in the execution of tactical and strategic data-related projects, resolution of production issues, and the implementation, support and maintenance of the overall data infrastructure and services.
DRC’s products include the DRC Insurance Platform, which consists of Insurance Price Rating and Analytics, Policy Administration, Claims, Billing, Agent/Consumer Portals and Business Intelligence. The successful candidate will be task oriented, driven to succeed and a team player.
The Data Warehouse Engineer has extensive knowledge of data structures, data modeling, SQL skills, analyzing and reporting techniques. On a day-to-day basis, the Data warehouse engineer handles the delivery of data and information to the organization’s various reporting applications. DRC is in need of an experienced person who understands database designs and ETL processes and can assist with creating a data landscape that is modern, scalable, maintainable and high-performing.
Primary Duties
Execute full data warehouse development lifecycle including design, code, test, deploy, support and document.
Design, develop and maintain new and existing data warehouses.
Provide guidance to less experienced in implementation using star and snowflake schemas.
Support the core product teams as well as client implementations.
Design and document data algorithms, report design requirements and flowcharts.
Creates database structures, procedures, triggers and appropriate indexing methods to optimize data storage and retrieval processes.
Design, develop and optimize ETL data transformations and SSIS packages.
Document error logs and solutions.
Monitor SSIS packages and ETL processes to ensure accuracy and data quality.
Create and modify existing databases and database objects according to needs of the organization.
Perform thorough testing on all database objects and data queries to ensure results meet designed specification.
Preferred Qualifications:
3+ years of experience of data warehouse development of transactional insurance or financial services applications
3+ years of experience in SQL relational transactional database ETL development to star or snowflake schema data warehouses
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline such as Computer Science, ICS or MIS
3+ years of experience in data warehouse development using T-SQL and SSIS packages
3+ years of experience with Microsoft Azure SQL and SQL Server versions 2008 through latest
3+ years of hands-on experience in cloud technologies such as Azure SQL, Azure Blob Storage, and SQL data warehouse
Understanding data pipelines and modern ways of automating data pipeline using cloud-based implementation and testing and clearly document the requirements to create technical and functions specs
Must have a solid understanding of architecting, designing and operationalization of large-scale data and analytics solutions.
Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Strong organization and documentation skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel, and to communicate and advise others on issues that are complex and/or sensitive in nature
Ability to work successfully independently and with others in an atmosphere of multiple projects, shifting priorities, and deadline pressures
Ability to work effectively with, and support the needs of, project team members and the client support department
