Decision Research Corporation (DRC), a software solutions provider, is seeking a Database Developer for its software solutions. Locations of Philadelphia, Los Angeles or Honolulu are preferred but not required. Remote working is possible for a candidate who has proven history of productive remote working with demonstrable references. This position is responsible for assisting in the execution of tactical and strategic data-related projects, resolution of production issues, and the implementation, support and maintenance of the overall data infrastructure and services.

This role is 80% database development and 20% database administration, with developmental skills being required.

DRC’s products include the DRC Insurance Platform, which consists of Insurance Price Rating and Analytics, Policy Administration, Claims, Billing, Agent/Consumer Portals and Business Intelligence. The successful candidate will be task oriented, driven to succeed and a team player.

Primary Duties Include:

Develop and implement custom database objects (T-SQL scripts, stored procedures, tables, views, functions, etc.) to support application development and streamline administration processes
Provide primary or secondary support for designated database applications and processes
Participate as key member of the Business Intelligence team, focusing on data architecture and dimensional modeling.
Implement and maintain reporting and data integration processes using SSIS and SSDT for Visual Studio
Collect and review database performance metrics and proactively address performance concerns
Troubleshoot problems with high-level expertise, diligence, and efficiency
Respond to database related support requests from developers
Collaborate with developers and business analysts effectively

Secondary Duties Include:

Maintain user database accounts, performing database back-ups and restores, and providing internal database training to end-users
Build, support and administer of database systems including installation, upgrades, configuration, consolidation, monitoring, tuning, and maintenance
Implement, maintain and improve database backup, disaster recovery and high-availability solutions
Create and maintain detailed documentation of the SQL Server environment and designated application support responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline such as Computer Science, ICS or MIS
1-2 years of database administration experience in an enterprise environment
Experience with Microsoft Azure SQL and SQL Server versions 2008 through latest
Experience with SSIS
T-SQL experience required and other scripting language skills desired
Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Strong organization and documentation skills
Knowledge of Data Warehouse (DW) best practices and design patterns
Experience with Microsoft .NET, C#, and Entity Framework
Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel, and to communicate and advise others on issues that are complex and/or sensitive in nature
Ability to work successfully independently and with others in an atmosphere of multiple projects, shifting priorities, and deadline pressures
Ability to work effectively with, and support the needs of, project team members and the customer support department
Knowledge of database recovery models, high-availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
Knowledgeable of applicable Microsoft technologies including Active Directory, Windows Server, SQL Server and IIS, as well as networking concepts and common infrastructure
Knowledgeable of server hardware, storage systems and other infrastructure, client/server applications, and server utilities
