Help Desk Technician I (Grade 6)

Location: Kamehameha Industrial Center

Department: IT Infrastructure Department – End User Support (Honolulu, Oahu)

Hours: Monday- Friday 8:00am-5:00pm (hours may vary)

Responsible for providing technical phone support while monitoring and maintaining FHB systems (e.g., ATM, Servers, Backups, etc.) in a 24x7x365 high availability production environment. Troubleshoot issues and failures related to hardware, services, and network.


  • Associate’s Degree in a Computer Science Technology discipline; or
  • Technical Certification in Microsoft, Cisco or Unix/Linux Technologies, ITIL Foundations, CompTia; or
  • Equivalent work experience (e.g., at least 1 year in a similar role) required

Basic knowledge in:

  • Exchange and Office 365 Email
  • AntiVirus, and AntiSpam solutions
  • Network protocols and routing
  • DNS, DHCP and Active Directory
  • Firewall and VPN technologies
  • Business backup and disaster recovery solutions,
  • Virtualizations and cloud solutions
  • Understanding of LAN architecture, OSI model, cabling systems, and TCP/IP
  • Understanding of the use of ping, traceroute, nslookup and other troubleshooting commands
  • Must possess good interpersonal skills and is able to work well with end users
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Able to handle confidential matters judiciously
  • Good time management skills and able to prioritize
  • Proficient in setup and user of Microsoft Office and Windows operating system
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends as needed
