UX Designer Internship

We are seeking an enthusiastic UX Designer Intern to join the Piʻikū Co. community and help build products in partnership with Blue Startups. The ideal candidate should have an interest in user-centric design and problem-solving. They will work closely with one other intern and a mentor to conceptualize, design, and prototype user interfaces that enhance the overall user experience for Blue Startups portfolio companies.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand user needs and business requirements.
• Assist in conducting user research, usability testing, and analysis to gather insights and validate design decisions.
• Create wireframes, prototypes, user flows, and mockups to communicate design concepts effectively.
• Iterate on designs based on feedback, user testing results, and design best practices.
  Assist in maintaining design systems and ensuring consistency across digital touchpoints.
• Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and design standards to continuously improve the user experience.
• Support the development team by providing design assets, specifications, and guidance throughout the implementation process.

Qualifications:

• A portfolio showcasing UX/UI design projects and proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, etc.
• A strong connection to Hawaiʻi, either as a current resident or of native descent living away from Hawaiʻi

Nice to Have:

• Knowledge of user-centered design principles and methodologies.
• Familiarity with conducting user research, usability testing, and prototyping techniques.
• Prior internship or coursework experience in UX design or related field.
• Understanding of front-end development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.
  Experience with motion design and animation tools.
• Passion for user experience design and solving complex problems.
